This paper was written as a guide to instructors on how to implement teams in a learning environment. The authors cover several aspects of making effective teams, such as different paper forms used in the classroom, forming the teams themselves, changing teams, and utilizing peer ratings.
I struggle to find takeaways from this paper in relation to my personal research, even though I enjoyed the reading. It’s possible I could include this paper as a reference for instructors who might use my development project in the event they have not already seen it, but I am unsure how relevant that would be.
Compared to students taught traditionally, students taught in a manner that incorporates small-group learning achieve higher grades, learn at a deeper level, retain information longer, are less likely to drop out of school, acquire greater communication and teamwork skills, and gain a better understanding of the environment in which they will be working as professional. - p. 9
